Launching of ISDR website

The ISDR Secretariat launched officially the ISDR Website on 26 April 2000 in order to respond to all requests for information on disaster prevention received from around the world. The new ISDR website will disseminate information on the implementation of the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR), its initiatives and global framework of action. The website will also make reference to specific background information for IDNDR/ISDR, such as resolutions, SG Reports etc.. Updated information will also be available on the site regarding any activity / initiative taken in the four main fields of action for the Strategy, i.e economic and social issues, promotion and public awareness, scientific and technical issues and public commitment initiatives, as well as regarding the mandated tasks of the Secretariat on El Niño and Early-warning. The website will inform any interested partner about all major conferences and seminars on disaster prevention and vulnerability reduction held at the international and regional levels at ISDR’s initiative, as well as any major event involving ISDR’s participation. The ISDR website will also provide online documentation, including country profiles, and background information through direct linkages to specialized websites on disaster reduction and related fields of activity. It will also keep all IDNDR accumulated documentation as archive on ISDR Home page.

The ISDR Secretariat would very much appreciate receiving comments or any kind of contributions, you might deem appropriate or of relevance for ISDR website. Bibliographies, full text documents, announcements and videos, pictures are also welcome for our on-line media gallery.

You can easily access the new ISDR Website at the following address: www.unisdr.org
