The multimedia tool entitled Warning SEISM!- Seismic Prevention in Schools

Warning SEISM! Seismic Prevention in Schools was created in the context of a research project conducted in 2002 by the San Juan National University in San Juan, Argentina, and led by Alicia Violeta Malmod and María Isabel Balmaceda.

This is a multimedia software intended for students between the ages of 7 and 12, and promotes space adequacy in schools and the establishment of preventive behavior towards earthquakes, recognizing the potential that schools have for disseminating information.

This tool aims at establishing links that allow for the access of the population at risk to the existing theoretical body on seismic prevention. It also proposes a new way of approaching the issue of seismic prevention, as it integrates dissimilar disciplines and lays emphasis on knowledge building and the analysis of inter-subjective aspects.

Finally, this multimedia software responds to the need for a tool to be used by teachers of primary education, in order to facilitate the implementation of seismic prevention from a constructivist approach that includes the participation of all sectors involved in the education community.
