I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the 4th Session of the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction of the Americas (#RP14), for such a memorable milestone on the road to Sendai, Japan, where next year a successor to the Hyogo Framework for Action will be adopted at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

The #RP14 in numbers: Participation and documents

856 registered participants, from 54 nationalities and 32 countries of the Americas, shared more than 200 presentations and statements during the event which was furthermore followed by hundreds of viewers via live stream and had extensive media coverage throughout the Americas.

65% of the participants represented national governments, local governments and NGOs, 25% represented the United Nations system and the academic sector, and 13% consisted of Intergovernmental Organizations (IGOs), donors, private sector and media organizations.

Participants from Ecuador -the host country-, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Panama accounted for 70% of participants.

It should be noted that 41% of the countries represented at the #RP14 are located in the Caribbean, which represents a strong participation of 13 of the 16 countries of this region.

Reviving the Platform on the Internet and social networks

IThe presentations and videos of 4 thematic sessions, 6 parallel sessions, 70 IGNITE stage sessions, as well as more than 40 interviews that were conducted during the Fourth Session of the Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction of the Am ericas (# RP14) are available through the #RP14 website.
