Official Statements

Delegations are invited to provide five-minute Official Statements. Guidelines are provided below.

Who can make a statement?

All delegations can express their interest in making an Official Statement. Only registered and confirmed participants can submit the request on behalf of their delegation.

How can I make a statement?

There are two types of statements– written and oral. Written Statements: we encourage all delegations to submit a written statement via the RPA website. In general, written statements are around 500 words.

Oral Statements: in addition to a written statement, all government delegations may deliver oral statements at the Regional Platform. A maximum of 5 minutes is allocated. As such, countries are encouraged to ensure that their statements, when delivered orally, do not exceed 5 minutes.

Other delegations can submit a request to make an oral statement, however, time slots are limited and we may not be able to accommodate every request.

Oral Official Statements will be delivered in a parallel session room from a podium and will be video recorded and available by webcast on the Regional Platform website. The list of speakers will be available on this website prior to the Regional Platform.

Will the Statements be made public?

All statements, whether oral or written, will be available to the public on the Regional Platform website and may also be distributed to the media.

Official Statements schedule:

• Tuesday 07: 16:00-19:00
• Wednesday 08: 16:00-19:00

Deadline January 15th, 2017.

Guidance on the format for Official Statements
