We campaign

We Campaign

We campaign to create global awareness of disaster risk reduction benefits and empower people to reduce their vulnerability to hazards. Our current campaigns focus on safer schools and hospitals as well as resilient cities.

Making Cities Resilient

Cities and local governments need to get ready, reduce the risks and become resilient to disasters. For the next two years and beyond, UNDRR will campaign together with its partners for this to happen.

Safe Schools and Hospitals

The One Million Safe Schools and Hospitals Campaign is a global advocacy initiative to make schools and hospitals safe from disasters. People in unsafe schools, hospitals and health facilities are at the greatest risk of losing their lives when a disaster strikes.

International Day for Disaster Reduction

The International Day for Disaster Reduction highlights the successes and to continue working toward achieving safer and more resilient communities. It takes place every year on October 13th.

UN Sasakawa Award

The United Nations Sawakawa Award for Disaster Reduction is awarded to an individual or institutions that have taken active efforts in reducing disaster risk in their communities and advocates for disaster risk reduction.

Previous Campaigns

Since 2000, UNDRR has advocated for disaster risk reduction through it's World Disaster Reduction Campaign. From targeting various thematic development areas, campaigning for safer schools and hospitals, to making cities resilient, UNDRR is committed to helping societies become resilient to disasters.
