Making the Municipality of Portmore resilient to disaster is one of the Council's priority goals. Being a part of Making Cities Resilient. My City is Getting Ready campaign will assist the Council to achieve its goal. This campaign will afford us the opportunity to identify gaps, develop strategies to address the gaps as well as to enhance the Council's capacity by adopting other Municipalities best practices at both the local and international level. It will also allow us to share information.

We are cognizant that achieving resiliency will not happen overnight but will be achieve through the engagement of citizens, government agencies, NGOs and other civic groups. In achieving resilience the Council seek to accomplish the following priorities:

• Making DRR a priority

• Knowing the risk and take action

• Build understanding and awareness

• Reduce risk

• Be prepared and ready to act The Municipality of Portmore wants to be a resilient city, hence our participation.
