Introducing PreventionWeb

PreventionWeb is a new information service to increase knowledge on disaster risk reduction (DRR).
For the first time, a website will provide a common tool for both specialists and non-specialists interested or working in the area of disaster risk reduction to connect, exchange experiences and share information. The site is a project of the secretariat of the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction. Prevention Web relies on content contributions from the DRR community and includes: disaster risk reduction news, country reports, publications, good practices, fact sheets, networks and communities, and more. The beta release period will emphasize content development by calling for contributions from the community at large – UN, international, non-governmental, academic, and civil society partners. Content Syndication: PreventionWeb is designed to distribute content in many ways, and offers the possibility of automatically placing content such as an event calendar on partner sites. PreventionWeb is now in a beta testing period, and will be conducting a series of usability tests over the next few months. We look forward to your participation and comments. Watch and Listen to a site demo: See a 5-minute online demo with audio commentary at: http://www.preventionweb.net/english/about
