We advocate

We Advocate

We advocate for greater investments in risk reduction actions to protect people's lives and assets including climate change adaptation, more education on DRR and increased participation of men and women in the decision making process.

Climate Change

Disaster risk reduction and climate change mitigation and adaptation share common goals. Both fields aim to reduce the vulnerability of communities and achieve sustainable development.

Education

Disaster risk reduction and education is an interactive process of mutual learning between people and institutions. Reducing risk and vulnerability to disasters requires people understanding how they can best protect themselves, their property and their livelihoods.

Gender

Disasters highlight and accentuate the vulnerabilities of women while they reinforce, perpetuate and increases gender inequality.

Sustainable Development

Disaster risk reduction is an integral part of social and economic development, and is essential if development is to be sustainable for the future.

Disaster Risk Reduction Champions

Appointed by UNISDR, our champions advocate for building resilient communities and reducing disaster risk. Champions are key political figures who are active and committed to disaster risk reduction.
