Photography and Article Contest of the World Campaign for Disaster Risk Reduction: “Hospitals Safe from Disaster: Reduce Risk, Protect Health Facilities, Save Lives”
Within the framework of the World Disaster Reduction Campaign 2008-2009, this contest is an initiative of the Pan-American Health Organization (WHO/PAHO), the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction secretariat (UNISDR), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Plan International, and UNICEF with the support of the World Bank. The aim is to promote the importance of disaster risk reduction for sustainable development and for achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG).Participation is open for persons from any country in the Americas who, in 2008/2009, have taken pictures or written articles published or unpublished surrounding the subject of disaster risk reduction and safe hospitals. Prizes The winners of the first and second places will receive digital cameras, in the case of photography, a kit of publications on Disaster Risk Reduction, a participation certificate and a statuette award. In the case of articles, the winners of the first and second places will receive laptops, a package of information on Disaster Risk Reduction, a participation certificate and a statuette award. The third places of all categories and honorable mentions will receive a package of publications on Disaster Risk Reduction, a participation certificate and a statuette award.
